Today starts the Red Sox on the quest for another World Series Championship. It's been three long years since they tasted the sweet nectar of the championship trophy. The Sox had the best overall record in all of Baseball this season. They have strong Pitching let by CY Young Candidate and20 game winner Josh Beckett and one of the best closers Jonathan Papelbon. The hitting is lead by the clutch slugging of David (Big Papi) Ortiz and with the return of Manny the Sox look strong.
The California -Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim had a pretty good year winning the American League Western division. Their pitching isn't as strong as the Red Sox and their ace 19 game winner John Lackey has had an awful time against the Sox. One of their best hitters Gary Matthews Jr. is out for the series that leads only Val Guerrero as their only real homerun threat.
My Prediction Sox win in four. (The first round is Best 3 out of five after that it's four out of seven)
Hopefully beating the Angles will just be a nice warm up to what most of us are truly wishing for a showdown with the New York Yankees for the American League championship. Beating the much hated Yankees would be icing on the cake on our way to the World Series. The Yankees do have a very strong hitting lineup lead by the leading MVP candidate Alex Rodriguez but the Red Sox have a clear advantage in the pitching department and in a short series pitching usually is what determines the outcome. That is why I'm going with Boston over the evil empire
My Predication Sox beat Yankees 4 games to three.
I am also rooting that the Chicago Cubs make it out of the National League to face and lose to the Red Sox in the World Series. As I mentioned before it has been three very long years since the Sox last won but it has been 99 years since the Cubs last championship. A Red Sox win over them will make next years one hundred year Anniversary that more meaningful to the very loyal, long suffering Cubs fans
The Cubs had a good year in a very weak National League. They don't have enough pitching or offense to keep up with the Red Sox. They really don't have a chance to win even though their fans will be in a frenzy mode. They will be just so happy that they made it to the World Series for the first time in sixty three years. Sadly they will have to wait a bit longer. . So I say, lets go Sox! Let's win another one for all those people born after the last championship so they can experience the joy we went through after the 2004 win.
I predict that the Sox beat Cubs 4 games to 0 to win their second Championship of the decade.
Here is the TV schedule for the first round. All the game will be broadcast over cable station WTBS. They are the station that has been showing all the Atlanta Braves games. They have very good Announcers and they mainly just talk about the game.
I for one will be happy to be rid off all that Rem-dog- Wally the Green Monster,-Red sox nation and Sox Appeal garbage that we get forced down our throats while just trying to watch the Red sox games on NESN.
I swear they spent so much time with this foolishness that they hardly have anytime leftover to comment on the game at hand. I get so tired of their antics that I just have to turn off the sound of my TV so I can enjoy watching the game.
Go Sox!

Nice write-up, Rich.
I still like seeing Jerry just crack up and something Don says or does and the two of them are like little boys who can't get themselves to stop laughing.
On the other hand some of the other announcers are way too serious and I have to turn them down because they put such a serious tone on the game.
I know it's serious stuff to people at this stage of the game...but, it is just that...a game!!!
