Top 5 Christmas Movies

It's that time of year again, where I have to dust off my good old Holiday Movie Top 5!
Each year I wait until at least the day after Thanksgiving to begin my Holiday Movie Marathon (unlike the malls, retail stores, oldies 103, and any other franchise that decides to start capitalizing on Christmas around July or August it seems...), and I like to spread them out over a few weeks time and, of course, in order. So here I present to you my Holiday Movie Top 5, this year free with reviews!

#5. Die Hard:
New York Detective John McClane finds himself in Los Angeles to reconcile with his wife who has taken a powerful corporate job. He arrives unannounced to a Christmas Eve party at the Nakatomi Building and he's not the only one to drop in. No, not Santa and his reindeer but Hans Gruber and his band of German terrorists. From here on out, McClane gift wraps ass kicking.

#4. Home Alone (the first one)
What happens when 8 year old Kevin McAllister gets left home alone during the Christmas season, only to find himself defending his home against the Wet Bandits (Daniel Stern, Joe Pesci), a creepy sidewalk-salting neighbor, and......HOUSE CHORES???!!?!?

#3. National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
The Griswold's are at it again!!! Cross country road trips, European Vacations and Suburbain Chicago has never had it easy with these folks around, and the holiday season is no different! A house full of in-laws, a giant evergreen christmas tree, Aunt Bethany's gift wrapped cat, and that's all before Kris Kringle shows up...

Wow! What a classic! Do I have to say more, other than "You'll shoot your eye out, kid!"?

#1. It's A Wonderful Life
Say what you will....call it cliche. But have you seen this damned movie?! Bedford Falls, Zuzu's petals, Clarence's wings? Seriously. Seriously.

Seriously.

It's the consummate holiday movie. And the story line could take place at the end of April! It has nothing to do with Christmas, really....

and finally

The Christmas Episode of TV Funhouse - A short lived show on Comedy Central created by Robert Smeigel (of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog fame), this episode finds our host Doug home full of Christmas Cheer! His animal friends, the AniPals discover that the Christmas Cheer is a "ring-ting-tingly feeling up your spine", so they decide to tap into Doug's spine, extract the spinal fluid, boil it down to powder, and snort it like cocaine.
They then get high on Christmas Cheer and wreak havoc all over the place, holiday-style.

I haven't given my top five a thought. I never consdidered "Die Hard" a Christmas movie.
Winchester wouldn't let their middle schoolers go see "A Wonderful Life."
