Went in to the Orpehum last night to see Lucinda Williams.
Love her song writing; love Doug Pettibone's guitar; love the Orpheum.
Her voice ...
Love how she just belts it out!
There's this soulful grittiness to her voice that gets you right in the gut...and the heart.
The Orpheum, as well as architecturally a beautiful, classic music hall, is one of those great old places that was built with acoustics in mind. She commented on how impressed she was with the quality sound that they were hearing on stage.
Lu (she told us we could call her "Lu"!), commented on how they've been on this whirl-wind tour; had just played Letterman and Radio City Music Hall the past couple of nights, and how glad she was to be able to let her hair down some now that the nerves from those two venues were over. So, I think she did...she just kept playing and playing..."I know we gotta watch out for the curfew here in Boston...But, it sounds so good, I just want to keep on playing and playing here for you. So we'll just keep playing until we can't any more!"
Happened to find the set-list posted already...

If you're unfamiliar with her work, you can click on this site from an NPR concert she did a couple of years back.

Just to take the train to Boston and wander around Downtown area was a kick...it's been awhile since we've done that. There's a lot of people in the world...hehehe!
What great night!
(except for the drive home in the blinding snow!...ah, New England weather!)
Thanks to sister Jo for the tix!!
